  1. Put perfume on the light bulbs-- when they heat up (when turned on) it diffuses the scent.

  2. buy some vanilla candles .

  3. Since you have pets, I would suggest shampooing any carpets or rugs to help neutralize any odors. Aside from frequent cleanings, you could try air-fresheners and spraying Frebreeze on the fabric (sofas, rugs, curtains...) to make things smell nice. I use Glade scented oils (the kind you plug into a wall-outlet) and they keep things smelling pretty nice. I hope these suggestions help.

  4. when my room smelled bad, I used a body spray. I know what you're thinking. I am crazy but it really smells good and it lasts long 2

  5. These are good suggestions, but I have one more. After cleaning upholstered furniture, spray it with the stain guard stuff they sell in the stores. I've heard it really helps when you have pets.

  6. Woolite One step smells great!

  7. get some cinnamon sticks and place in a medium sized pot with enough water to cover by 3 inches. Simmer for a few hours on medium low. That should do it. If it doesn't, bake an apple pie. That's how I sold my house the first day I listed it. Nobody can resist a house that smells like cinnamon and apples baking

  8. I have pets and stuff too--nine cats and a dog.  I have 2 hermit crabs, but they don't smell bad.

What do I do to keep my house smelling clean?

    1.  Dyson Proheat 2x Steam Cleaner http://www.target.com/Bissell-ProHeat-2X...  It heats water to steaming hot, which really helps clean carpets and upholstery.

    2.  Unique pet odor eliminator http://www.faithfulpetproducts.com/i/Gro...  I get mine from Ace Hardware.  This is absolutely the best odor eliminator for cat "accidents".

    3.  A yellow Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31...  Picks up pet hair and dander like you would not believe.  Cost $300 but was worth it.

    4.  A candle warmer http://www.foryournose.com/images/aro_es...  Five bucks at Wal-Mart.

    5.  I put fabric softener sheets in a floor fan.  Spreads a great scent around your house.

    6.  I am replacing most of my carpet with tile.  Very easy to keep clean.

    7.  Kilz paint http://www.kilz.com/.  One of my cats is a sprayer, and although he usually sprays outdoors, if there's a neighborhood tomcat hanging around he might spray one of my walls.  An occasional coat of white Kilz covers odors and stains.

    8.  Liquid Gold http://www.scottsliquidgold.com/scotts-l... on my woodwork.  Lovely cherry-almond smell.

    9.  I boil water with a splash of almond or vanilla (you know, the kind you cook with!) on the stove.  Makes the house smell like cookies.  You can add a little cinnamon, too.

    10.  After you vacuum, spray a little water/fabric softener blend very lightly on your carpet.  I don't use the sprinkle-on/vacuum-off carpet powder, because it seeps through your carpet into your carpet pad and ruins it.

I use lots of tactics to keep my house from smelling like animals.  I don't use all of the above every day, of course, but they all work for me.

  9. your pets are the problem. you can try an spray all over alone with a febreeze fabric freshener to spray on couches, carpets, beds, pillows. ect.

  10. Steam clean your carpet, let dry, then spray pet repelant in places you don't want your pets on. Use Frebreez, it works.

  11. A word of advice do wash walls, furniture, clothes, pets and mop.Use plenty of bleach it cleans well and kills germs.
