My hp won't boot says something is compressed?

when I turn on It won't boot. says some c**p is compressed. what do I do?

  1. when its turning on, press F8 and put it in safe mode

    then try and figure out what's compressed


  2. Vista?  Sounds like BootMGR Compressed error.  You need to rescue the OS.

    Do you know what torrent files are?

    if you do download Utorrent for your self and follow the link in source to download Vista recovery disc (X86 id for 32 bit and X64 is for 64 bit Vista.)

    Burn the ISO and put it in your computer, change BIOS to boot from CD, and follow instructions.

    Shouldn't take but a few minutes.

    If Running XP, you need to repair boot..  Use recovery CD (or HP's Recovery drive) and hit R to repair, or go to repair command prompt and type:

    fixMBR  then say yes (you ARE sure).

    If it's a newer install you can also just dump the whole thing and reinstall the OS.  Up to you.
