My hubby & I can't agree on baby boys names, please help!!!?

Question

My hubby's surname is Browne (pronounced like normal Brown, not Brownie as some people say, lol). We already have a daughter, and we are having another baby, we are ok with girls names, as I think they are much easier, but we are having trouble with boys names, I think with a surname like Brown, Jones or Smith, the first name should be a bit "different" but with boys they all seem to be pretty standard or really out there, when you know the boy will get picked on.

We have so much trouble agreeing on boys names, hubby likes things like Ethan, but I think it is too common with his surname, imagine how many Ethan Brown(e)s there are about!!

Can anyone think of something that is not common/plain but not outlandish?

My hubby and I share a very common name also.  We like Jefferson for a boy.  It's definitely not "out there" as everyone will be able to spell it and pronounce it... but it's also sure not to be shared by 5 other boys in class.  

Jefferson Brown sounds very strong and presidential, I think.

It's going to be hard, because Browne sounds like Brown which is a very popular name.  But honestly, I've never known one to spell it that way, so though it is going to sound popular, it's not going to be as popular in the spelling.

Since Browne is 1 syllable, why not pick a first name that has 2 or 3 syllables.  

Look at boy's names used in the past in your 2 families and discuss what you like (or don't like) about each one.  If you've done some genealogical research, you may find an older name that sounds just right.  Look at middle names or surnames for ideas, if they make sense as a first name.

How about having a traditional name with a modern twist?

Like Thomas could become Theo

James could become Jaedon

Hmm my partner wanted to name our baby Ethan as well...luckily we had a girl...I'm not really fussed on Ethan.

I do love the name Riley though.  

Perhaps you can incorporate Ethan as a second name, that way you're both happy!

Im goin through the same thing at the moment with my partner he likes the name brett and has been fighting me on it for 2 month but I just can't picture my baby looking like a brett.
