We want to move there with basically nothing but money and some clothes. Is it really that expensive and how much can you rent a house or apartment for. Also is it hard to get a job if you do construction.

  1. Ireland is a great place to start fresh and it's not that expensive if you are on an Irish wage. However the construction industry is very slow these days and a lot of construction workers have been laid off... But I guess if your husband is willing to take a change of career he'll certainly find something to fall back on if he can't get a job in constructions... maybe as a plumber, an electrician, or in a factory...

  2. Ireland is a very expensive place to visit or live these days, and you would need to get a work visa before you were able to move and obtain employment. Are you an EU national or a citizen of Ireland? You should check with the Irish embassy in regard to immigration - it isn't an easy process.

The construction industry is on a downturn worldwide, coinciding with the real estate bubble bursting - that is pretty much the case everywhere these days. I would start looking in Irish news papers online to get an idea of jobs and rents. Last I heard housing in all of Ireland was fairly tight.

Hopefully someone will be able to give you more information on this. You should note which country you are emigrating fro, it can enable people to give more specific information.

  3. Don't come now, wait a few years. And do some proper research before you go, don't rely on what people tell you on Yahoo answers, even though most have given you good advice from what I can see.

  4. Well, the best thing to do, is first figure out if you REALLY want to move to Ireland. Then, simply come over for 1 Month and see.

As far as Construction Jobs go, there is a downturn, but, as with all areas in life, if you are determined, then it wont be a problem.

  5. To be perfectly honest, at the moment there is an economic downturn with less and less jobs to be found in construction. A lot of people have started to be laid off in this area and also in other areas such as manufacruring etc. HOwever it is thought that this may be temporary, who knows though.

Ya it is very expensive to buy a house, however it depends where u want to buy.

It is the best country in the world though!!
