Question:

My hubby and i have had this very very old 3in oil can, we think it must be in the war years, very tinny?

weve had it about 40years when we first met,we found it,it was in an old house to where we lived, maybe some older folk might have some idea to where its from, it says underneath made in u;s a, date april cannot make the rest out, when the tops off it has a pin which goes into the lid to clean it i think , this is attached to the lid which srcews on, its grey and tinny little thing, would like to know if anyone out there has any idea about this, ask your nana grandas i think it could be in their time

    could be worth loads !

    plus you never know there could be some major antique obsessed people out there willing to spend loads on it!

    it's amazing what people will buy these days !

  3. I believe in a well advertized oil can auction this can might fetch $3.00. Maybe $3.50 if there are two or  more oil can collectors bidding on it.

  4. During the war and for a few years after,all types of metal were in short supply in UK, and about 1946/7/8 or so,we started seeing a DIY type of oil in Fancy containers. THE OIL was called 3 in 1. As i was only 10 when war started i dont remember the differant shapes ,but an oil can does seem obvious, and a lot of these type of things did come from USA.

    The standard can is still on sale today, about 4inches tall .Thats all i can remember.
