We're in Northern VA and we have 2 small kids (ages 5 & 2) that I'd like to have involved so bars are out :) I'd prefer having it somewhere other than the house but all suggestions are welcome. Thanks!!

  1. maybe go to a town pool center or (one of my personal favs) go to FLORIDA- Disney World anyone?

  2. I am not familianr with your area and what is available but I held my husbands 30th bday at a local private plane airport in a hanger and did a casino theme complete with regulation sized tables and dealers.  Something else you could check on, a Knights of Columbus or Elks Lodge are usually willing to rent their facilities for not a lot of money.

  3. A small gathering in the backyard or a park would be nice. A barbeque with a small intimate gathering. If you live in a house, you should try something in the backyard. Purchase some votives and glass votive holders and you can decorate around the backyard or you can get white paper bags, fill them with a little sand (available at your local hardware store), and fill those with candles and cut out shapes like "30" or other shapes in the bags to make luminaries. A few refreshing appetizers and smaller main dishes can help with budgeting, and making a punchbowl full of a special "drink" would be great and costs less and is less time consuming so you can have more time to entertain. Let me know if you want more ideas.
