  1. All wage earners have Social Security and Medicare taxes taken out of their pay (SS is capped at $102,000 of wages).  

    Even those currently receiving SS and Medicare benefits pay those taxes.

    Each year your spouse works, his benefits will be recalculated based on the year's earnings, and may increase.


  2. Yes.

    Even if he's already on medicare and collecting benefits from it, he still has to pay the 1.45% tax.  There is no age exemption for fica/mc.
