  1. Some cruise lines are requiring passports for their guests. Best you call the cruise line that you are booked on.

According to the government website, cruising from a US port and returning to a US port, no passport needed for US citizens. But like I said some cruise lines are requiring a passport.

Good Luck and have a great trip)

  2. You don't say which countries you will visit so check this website for info:  http://www.delta.com/planning_reservatio...

However, you should get passports even if they are currently not required.  Rules change and you could find yourself not allowed to leave the ship.

  3. If you are going to a non-US territory then I'm almost certain the answer is yes.  If you are going in May, then you should definitely get the passport application filed quickly.  It can take several months.

  4. Only if you are going into territory not owned by US.  I would check with the cruiseline via their website. Bon Voyage

  5. Check with your cruise line if you will need a passport, but its a good idea to have one anyway.

If you're going to US ports (St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, etc.) you will have to go through US immigration while on your cruise, which they do the morning you are in the US port. However, while you're in other countries it's a good idea to have a passport in case anything happens.

So, if you have time, getting a passport would be a good idea.
