We have been looking at Vizio televisions from Sams Club, Walmart, and Sears. Does anyone have any experience or feed back on them? The price seems very affordable, but we don't want to spend that kind of money and get a dud if spending a little more will buy us a better quality television. Any suggestion's would be appreciated as we are NOT very electronic's savy.

  1. Much attention has been given to Vizio in the past couple of years. They tend to have sharp pictures, but they also tend to produce poor black levels, worse than average viewing angles and mediocre reliability. They also cut corners on service. Vizio will only stock parts in California. For most of the country, you will need to wait for parts to be shipped. They only use third party techs (they do not train nor hire their own techs) for warranty service. At Vizio's discretion, your problem can be deemed NOT serviceable in the home and they can demand that you ship your TV back to California in its original packaging material for repair. The shipping costs to California are at your expense.

Panasonic is building the most reliable TVs today according to the March 2008 issue of Consumer Reports. Samsung and Sony have the best picture quality of the LCD manufactures, Panasonic and Pioneer have the best picture quality of the plasma TV manufacturers.
