  1. I can highly recommend any of these wonderful valleys in the Italian part (the Ticino): Bevona, Maggia or Verzasca. The hiking paths are absolutely splendid, with lovely grottos along the way where you can enjoy local wines, cheeses and meats.

  2. The bernese oberland is beautiful for hiking! I'd suggest Mürren (you could take the big gondola to the schilthorn and hoave a beautiful view of the alps) or go hiking in Grindelwald. Another very nice place is Emmeten, it's very local and you won't see many tourist up there. Just remember that switzerland can be rainy and cold, so plan an alternitive program too.

  3. for hiking i would suggest in first place Grindelwald. it's all in front of the scenery of Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

other nice places for hiking are Arosa, Davos, Zernez all located in the Kanton Graubünden.

further there are also good places in Wallis like Ovronnaz (above St. Pierre de Clages just a few kilometers from Sion) or Riederalp and Bettmeralp (near Brig) where you can hike along the largest glacier (Aletschgletscher) of Switzerland (see also pictures in the 2nd link).

  4. grindelwald is our favorite but zermatt is great also. use the train system pack very light , ride lifts and trams up and hike down as for as you like then catch a tram back down. stay 10 days and go to luzerne , you will not regret it.
