  1. I have always found the best cruise deals on travelocity.  Also travelzoo is great for deals.  Be careful, there are a lot of cruise sales agents with websites and they are a total rip off.  Always check the actual line's website to compare the price.

  2. There are two excellent sites that I can suggest,

www.cruisecompete.com  will allow online agents to compete for your business.  My recommendation is to look for the top 3 prices and email each of them to see who responds, then go with that one.  You will get the best service that way.

    Also,

www.cruisereport.com will allow you find reviews of all the cruiselines and cruiseships that you are considering.

    Have fun..

  3. Try Cruiseonly.com. They are very nice and if you need to call they dont rush you off the phone.  My husband and I are also going on our first cruise and it was a pleasure to deal with them.

You can also try vacationstogo.com but their customer service isnt that good. I felt like they didnt want to have anything to do with me and when I asked questions, they gave the impression like I was bothering them.

good luck. We are taking ours next april and I cant wait!

  4. Pre-baby my husband and I use to take lots of cruises. We were pretty flexible on when we could go so I would just check the cruise line, port and destination that I wanted on-line daily and book when I saw the price I wanted.

We usually travel Royal Caribbean and if you either book WAY in advance or wait until the last minute you can save a ton. I saved over $1,000 on our last cruise by booking three weeks before we planned to go. I did everything over the phone using the Crown and Anchor Club line for Royal Caribbean. You can be a member if you have ever traveled on RC before. They are very helpful.

I recommend booking directly with the cruise line, especially if you have travel experience and are willing to haggle. I always manage to snag us a room upgrade or some extra amenities by haggling over the phone.

  5. If this is your first cruise, talk to a local travel agent!  We just got back from our first cruise and because of all the questions we had we felt going through a local agent.  One that we used in the past.  She was a great asset to our trip.  You may save a little but to deal with all the cruise rules and requirements it was well worth it.

As someone else said, beware of online cruise sites.  They may cost you more in the end.

  6. A travel agent can be helpful; however I have always gone directly to the site.  Compare the price on the cruise line site with what a travel agent can get you.  I recommend Royal Caribbean.  Price is middle of the road and the ships and itineraries are outstanding.
