  1. Go to the San Diego Zoo. My husband and I went there about 8 yrs ago. It's an awesome zoo!

  2. We went to San Diego a couple years ago with our 10 year old daughter.  Both the San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park (they are separate facilities with separate admission charges) were great.  You're better off if you buy a membership since you don't have to run yourselves ragged trying to see everything in one visit and you get extra freebies like tram rides.  We also got guest passes with our memberships that we sold on ebay when we got home.  Also as you drive out to the Wild Animal Park there is an orange grove on the left hand side of the road where you can pick your own organic oranges.  You'll never look at grocery store oranges the same way again.

Of course you'll HAVE to go to the beach (free except for the parking).

The best places we found to eat (and the kid loved them all, as well) were El Indio mexican restaurant, Fillipi's in Little Italy, and China Camp.  We were there for a week and went to Fillipi's twice, once for pasta and once for pizza on our way back to the airport.  China Camp is decorated like a 19th century railroad workers camp.  The kids will love it and the food is very good.

  3. YOU HAVE TO COME EAT AT CENOTE GRILL!!! (say-no-tay) the food is amazing there, and the atmosphere is great too. its a family owned mexican food restaurant in escondido, ca. believe me, it will be worth it. if you need directions go to www.cenotegrill.com and the address is on there, you can take the address and mapquest it.

  4. Bucca de Beppo is a great italian restaurant in downtown San Diego (family oriented) wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than fillipis, Sea World, zoo, Legoland, Knottsberry Farm, Wild Animal Park, Balboa Park, Seaport Village, the beaches, cruises on the bay. You can also check out the cool Navy ships.

  5. The zoo is great. Not far out of San Diego is a wild animal park where you drive your car right in among the animals. There is also Sea World and many beautiful beaches. If you get down by the piers, there's a huge merry go round, or at least there used to be.

  6. Take them to Mission Beach and go to Belmont Park to the Wave house. Also, take them over to the cove in La Jolla when the tides out and let them see all the crabs and sea creatures, the childrens pool where there are tons of seals laying around, another freebie Mt Soledad, great view on a clear day. You can also walk down to the end of Crystal Pier and see what everyone is catching and watch the surfers.. . Kid friendly dining take them to Fillipes pizza or the Corvette Diner,Old Town Mexican Cafe, great carnitas & margaritas.  Pick up the San Diego Family Magazine it will tell you everything that is going on, festivals etc.  Balboa park is great and it's right by the zoo. Have a great time.
