  1. malti poos and a chiwawa! paris has a chiwawa!

    maltipoos are soooooooooooooo cute!

  2. Labrador Retriever. My little sister crawls all over our familys Lab and she is so sweet and friendly. She will also just lay there when my little cousins tug on her ears and pull her tail. Golden Retrievers are like that too. It just depends on which look you like better...long hair or short hair.

  3. Take the advice of Muddy P, Lab or Golden, just get from a reputable breeder, meet Mom and Dad and you should be able to see the temperament, just be choosy as this will be a FAMILY MEMBER.

  4. get a newfoundland. they're sweet... lazy... big... and really easy to train.

  5. Please do not get a puppy or a small/toy breed dog with a toddler. The kid is too likely to hurt the puppy or injure the little dog and the dog may bite your son to get him to stop. Don't ever leave the kid or the neighbor kids and the dog unsupervised alone until they are 7 or 8.

I volunteer with a breed rescue and we won't place our rescues with children under 8 but I know that other breed rescues do.

Goldens and Labs are usually good with kids, but discuss your family situation with the rescue or shelter counselor.

  6. I have been raising and breeding Golden retrievers for many years. They are great family pets Most of my puppies go to homes with children, but I would recommend waiting until your son gets a little older.Puppies are naturally hyper and love to chew and jump.I feel that it would be more beneficial to wait a few years and let your son and your new best Friend grow up together and have fun. When you do decide to purchase your new puppy please make sure you get your puppy from a very reputable breeder, look for both parents OFA papers, health records ,a nd make sure to see the parents and look at their temperaments!!!

  7. Chocolate labrador retriever.

  8. the breed of dog doesn't really matter as much as the age of the dog you get.  get a PUPPY.  even though it is the most wonderful thing you can do for any of those animals there, don't rescue a dog from the pound, because you won't know enough about it or what it might do.  if you get a puppy, the pup and the baby will grow up together.

i am not saying that the breed of dog isn't important, don't misunderstand that.  it is important as well as what i said about age.  so, for the breed, i find labradors to be most gentle with people in general, but the dog will grow faster than the baby, so you might have a problem there, but not a serious one.  a cocker spaniel is one breed that doesn't get too big, and is good with kids.  a saint bernard would be my vote, because they are like a gentle giant.  they are big, but they don't really throw it around too much.

good luck with your dog hunt.  i hope you find the perfect fit for your family.

  9. I'm not sure what size of dog you are looking for, but I got a pug when I was pregnant and now my daughter is 12 months and my pug LOVES her. He sleeps by her and cuddles her and he is so sweet with her. They're the best of friends. :) It's the cutest thing you have ever seen!

  10. labradors and golden retrievers will be the top 2 family dogs for kids!

All kids want a dog! However, it is important to think about the age of your children as to when they get that dog. Small children (especially under six) you need to consider the size of your child and their unpredictable behavior. Also, the dog's behavior, for example, if you get a large, high-energy dog who could knock your child down easily. You could get a small dog that could easily be hurt unintentionally by your child.

If you have small children do you have time to take on a puppy and train him?

Parents should always supervise interaction between a dog and their children. Children need to be taught how to respectably treat a puppy.

Usually after seven years of age children are ready to have a dog to love and play with.

There are many breeds that are good with children. Learn the different characteristics of different breeds and decide what suits your child.

If you're not looking for a puppy consider finding a dog that has been raised with young children. Another option could be a young dog (a year or under) who is gently, not afraid of children, and look for his tail wagging when a child approaches

  14. I own a Japanese Akita.  They are large dogs and are considered to be Guard dogs.  I got him as a puppy when my baby girl was one year old.  He is very loving, protective and friendly.  He has never hurt her even as a puppy and he always allowed her to pull his ears etc.

These dogs were bred to look after children originaly and they have a natural way of being around children that makes you feel safe and comfortable.  I would strongly suggest you read up on this breed.
