  1. The ranges are very wide. It all depends on the type of adoption that you want to do. Adoption through foster care is free. Adoption of a healthy infant privately can run 10-25k and up. Adoption of a healthy infant through an agency seems to be approximately 25k, but again, it all depends on the type, the agency and where they are located. You can check a lot at www.theadoptionguide.com Good luck!

  2. it varies.  it also depends on what type of adoption you want.  newborn children through private adoption around 15-22k, word of mouth or a family friend can just be for legal fees of around 3-6k.  older children through foster care are much less if no out of pocket expense for the adoption.  some agencies offer reduced rates for children of african american race.  i believe that can be anywhere from 8-12k.  no matter you will need to undergo a home study usually around 1,000k, legals around 6k, agency fees around 8k and birthparent expenses of around 1-3k (some states have limits on this and some do not allow for it at all), and any medical, travel or various other expenses you might incur during the process of the adoption.  also there is a federal tax credit of around 11k and some states also offer a tax credit around 25-50% of the federal credit.  you will not get this back all at once, but over time and dependant upon how much you pay into federal taxes.  this is a credit and not a deduction.  the federal credit is good for 5 years and carries over year to year and most states also follow this.

I bought this book plus a digital thermometor.  Go for it.

You'll be out about 25 bucks.

  4. I was looking out of curiosity and it was like $30k-$40K.

  5. all i know is it cost a lot of moany

    if so good luke

  6. I do not know how accurate this amount is because my husband told me that he met a guy that adopted outside the country. He and his wife adopted from Africa and it cost him $22,000. I live in Virginia as well, in Richmond.

  7. time-wise about 6 mos to a year and money-wise about $600-$2500 is my guesstimate

  8. We spent a total of $10,000 in legal fees, trying to adopt Samantha.  "Daddy" was in prison, for a very long stretch, and wanted this for his baby, while he is in a sober state and can see the situation clearly.

We spent 3 years on it.  Mommy would commit, then not show up, even when we offered free taxi.

But, when crack addict mommy realized she would lose the welfare support money, from 'supporting' Samantha, she redacted her permission.

We followed this train wreck tragedy as Samantha grew and became a street urchin and finally, a crack mommy.  Thanks to Florida offering money to parents who are addicts, and who use the funds intended for the children to fuel their own habits, we see tens of thousands of similar tragedies.

Pitfalls are many, in our attempts to help others.

Go with caution.  Bless you in your attempts.
