I was wondering if we needed to get any medical shots before traveling down there. Also, are there any great companies that you were recommend using for snorkeling, day trips, dinner cruises, etc. Any in depth advice would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You don't need to take any shots (medical) before traveling to Puerto Plata or Punta Cana. For the tours outside the hotel it is better to go to Puerto Plata, there is more to see and to discover than in Punta Cana. Ocean World is also located in Puerto Plata, Isabella de Torre (cacle car) The beginning of the new world took place near Puerto Plata, and so much more....

    Enjoy it!

    El Pinguino

She found my husband and I the BEST DEALS...for Dominican Republic....

This is definitely A ONE STOP SHOP....Check it out.

  3. try something new look at Las Terrenas .

    www.lasterrenasweb.com

  4. We went there 18 months ago and had a great time. We used Apple Vacations and everything was included. Food and all Drinks and Wine were also included. I noticed that Dominican Republic is a poor country and if you wonder away from the resort area you really see it.  I would stay in the resort area and only take planned trips into the back country.

Also, you cannot give blood for one year after your vacation.

    Good luck.

  5. go to china

  6.   check out www.debbiesdominicantravel.com and you can get a lot of ideas.  I got married at Secrets Puntacana  the ocean in Punta cana is a little bit more rough it is the atlantic just an fyi.  Larommana is on the caribbean side you can check out the sunscape casa del mar resort the caribbean side is much calmer like a lake.  I do not recomend Manatee park it was awful the animals are in horid retched conditions do not go there.  We do not eat off the resort because food is not prepared to the same standards as on the resort.  The catalina island trip and the sonoa island trips are awsome.  and btw we never get shots and have been there 6 times

  7. I went down to Cancun a couple of years ago and there weren't any shots my wife and I needed.  Biggest thing to remember is don't drink or eat things that may have had contact with water unless it's purified water from your resort.  Most resorts have their own purification system so you don't have to worry about digestive problems.

Sorry I've never been to DR, but if you're staying at a resort, they should have tons of information for you.  Also, if you use the companies that the resort uses, you'll know they are safer than one you get on your own (though I'm sure they'll cost you more).  A lot of the resorts have trips like this included in you package, so check that out too!

Here's a website for a great resort in Cancun if you're interested.

    Have fun, I'm jealous!
