  1. My suggestion would be to go to each bases' website and look at ALL the housing. DONT GO TO TYNDALL AIRFORCE BASE or EGLIN OR hurbert field. ID STAY AWAY FROM FLORIDA AT ALL ACTUALLY

  2. You need to first look, at what bases your husband can actually be stationed at.

There is no use, putting a base you can never be stationed at, on your dream sheet.

Do you consider alot of snow, nice weather ?

  3. Pick a place you'd like to live for a couple of years. It's not going to be forever.

The military isn't your personal travel agency. It'll try to accommodate you, but realize that your husband goes where they need him.

As for your wish list criteria, there isn't any location without some bad points. The West Coast has earthquakes. The Southwest has heat. The central states have tornadoes. The North and Northeast have cold. The South and Southeast have hurricanes. It seems that just about everywhere gets flooded occasionally.

  4. No tornados, no hurricane, no hot weather... Alaska.  You won't find anywhere overseas or here state side with out something.  Also just remember it's a "dream" that you'll get any of your picks.  Be prepared for Minot or Grand Forks AFB up in ND.

DC area ...Bolling or Andrews.  : east coast = Hurricanes

Colorado - Buckley - Cold weather

California - Edwards - Hot with earthquakes

Florida - Eglin is very nice ( great golf course) - very hot with hurricanes

Utah - Hill - Nothing there

    Washington - McChord - Cold

N Carolina - Pope - Hot, muggy, hurricanes

    Georgia - Robins - Hurricanes

Ohio - Wright Pat - Safest of the group

You also want to make sure you don't pick something that is on the Closure list.  Like I said though, it's a DREAM list.  They're going to put you guys where ever his skill set is needed the most.  Once he gets a Long tour or remote he'll then get a chance to really choose.

  5. For pictures try searching on the specific AFB. A lot of them have their own web page.

Not having had anything to do with the Air Force I can't say much.

But for no hurricanes. No tornado's or thunder storms, or at least very rare. Temperature vary rarely will hit 100 degrees. About a two hour drive to San Francisco. About a two hour drive to Lake Tahoe. Think Travis AFB, Fairfield CA.

Someone mentioned Edwards AFB. It is in the high desert of CA northeast of LA. Hot and dry.

  6. Look up the locations of each place on Wikipedia. Even if you don't see the base you can look at surrounding places, how many people, climate, history. It will help you see what to expect.

  7. Here are some nice ones, but every base is what you make of it.  Now in my career field the only one I could have been stationed at on this list was Andrews and I had less than 6 other bases I could be stationed at here in the states.  So your career field is going to be a major determining factor.

DC area ...Bolling or Andrews. (andrews has a so so golf course) Both are nice

    Colorado - Buckley

    California - Edwards

Florida - Eglin is very nice ( great golf course)

    Utah - Hill

    Washington - McChord

    N Carolina - Pope

    Georgia - Robins

    Ohio - Wright Pat

  8. Charleston SC was nice when I was there and I know they have good housing there.   The AK thing isn't bad either...

Colorado Springs is hot but it is AWESOME and it has no humidity so it's a dry heat, winters aren't too harsh either, it would be #1 on my list.
