  1. Try the eastern Caribbean. Stopping in ports such as Nassau, Bahamas/ St Thomas USVI and St Martin, NA. Its hot and lots of fun! Or try the Mexican Riviera, leaving from LA or San Diego.

  2. Try the Caribbean. The islands are great and relaxing. The Bahamas, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico, etc.. The people are warm and friendly.. Have Fun!!!

  3. If you leave from San Juan you will have a better choice of ports.  You can get to St Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, Dominica  plus others in the southern Caribbean.  Otherwise take an Eastern Caribbean  out of Florida where you can stop in San Juan, St Thomas St Maarten, British Virgin Islands and others.

  4. I'm not sure how long of a cruise you were hoping for..

but we've travelled throughout the Caribbean, and our favorite ports are St. Thomas... And Grand Cayman....

We travelled to St. Thomas, San Juan and St. Croix a few years ago.. I heard ships don't go to St. Croix anymore because of the crime problem.. but it wasn't so nice anyways.. (there was still a lot of hurricane damage 5 years after the hurricane had hit the island.)   We had arrived in San Juan on our ship after 6pm and everything was closed when we got there. We spent our evening there (til 2am) looking at a dark city of dark buildings.. and couldn't really even go to a beach.  We spent the time in the San Juan Hard Rock cafe' drinking.. just because we didn't know what else to do..

We took an 8 day cruise to Barbados, Martinique and St. Maarten, and we enjoyed St. Maarten, but not as much as other places.. and Barbados and Martinique weren't really great.. We had our 3 year old daughter with us, and we were limited as to what we could do.. like scuba diving... so I'm not sure if those are good destinations for things like that..

But last year we did the 5 day cruise from Miami to Jamaica and Grand Cayman, and we really enjoyed Grand Cayman.  We did the "Swim with the stingrays" thing.. but that was before the Crocodile Hunter death.. and I'm not sure if they are still doing that excursion anymore.. Grand Cayman was clean and friendly.

Jamaica was ok.. (we went to Ocho Rios).. but we didn't always feel safe there.    This is funny.. we were walking through a marketplace - PUSHING A STROLLER with my daughter in it.. and some man with long dred locks was whispering to me.. "pssssssst.. do you want some marrrri-wannnna?"  I was laughing... I didn't think pushing a stroller I'd look like a big target..

I have heard that the Eastern Caribbean cruises are less... wavy than the Western Caribbean cruises.. Like the waves are not as strong and there's less chance of seasickness? if that helps..

We've also been to the Bahamas on a cruise, also.. and went to Freeport.. and I didn't like it very much. We were done there after about 6 hours, and ready to leave.  I have heard that Nassau is nicer though.

We're going on a cruise to Bermuda in April, now.. and I'm excited about that. I was getting tired of the Caribbean actually.. (If that's possible.. maybe "ready to go somewhere else" is a better statement).. so we're going to see Bermuda and Newport, Rhode Island out of New York City.

It'll be nice for something different.

    Good luck!

  5. Now that you've been on a cruise....did you enjoy your days at sea?  If you didn't, (like me...I'd rather be spending my days on a beach), then try for a cruise out of San Juan.  These cruises usally go to better islands in the Caribbean too.

    Just a thought...hope it helps!
