  1. Your husband is risking diabetic coma and or stroke. he needs to go to the ER. Period. Have you told his Dr. what his numbers are? I doubt it as any good Dr. would have your husband in the hospital right now. If he refuses to go to the ER then tell him you are calling an ambulance. Good Luck

  2. 4 times a day is good but if his blood sugars are still high he will definitely need to check with his doctor. ASAP.  There are many things beside food that will make blood sugars stay high.  Stress can do it as well as lack of sleep.  Even thrush (yeast infection) will do it.  I was on antibiotics for nearly a month and I ended up with thrush and my blood sugars went high and stayed high regardless of the amount of insulin I took.

While food plays the most significant role in diabetes care many other things can impact it.  To get my blood sugars down to a manageable level I cut out all breads and pasta, went low carb in my diet and try to go for a 30 minute walk every day.  I test 4-6 times a day as I am very brittle and my sugars will jump for no reason.

  3. If his doctor knows that his sugar has not dropped below 330 and has spiked to 500 , I would have thought he would have wanted him to see him before tomorrow. I would suggest you take him to the ER.   Is he taking any meds for his diabetes.  I get concerned when my husband's levels stay about 200 very long,  My hubby has never been in a coma, however, I have heard that they can happen in the 500's, easily.  Take care of him.

  4. I know it's late, visit my blog site and ready my story. There is a way to recover if you have a little discipline. I don't have much and may be really lucky. There is a chart on my blog site that will be the range of HbA1C and daily finger prick test results. I have personally cover the whole range. I seemed to be stuck at a HbA1C of 5.5 and daily finger prick tests of 105/85.

It can be done when you learn your control discipline. I give some credit to a diet supplement I take.

    Best Wishes

  5. Those numbers are way too high!  Is he taking any medicines or following a healthy eating plan?   My doctor would tell me to probably go to the ER with a number over 500.  Actually my meter won't even give me a number that high it just gives an error message.
