Question:

My husband found a weird arrowhead at the boat dock where we live?

we live along the wakulla springs and my husband has been finding arrowheads. he had found this particular one that it looks like indians used this particular arrowhead to tie on to a stick and use it as a weapon. but i dont know for sure. who can i speak to about some info on what kind of arrowhead? and identifying the value of it.

  1. Take it to any local community college or University that offers anthropology and archaeology classes.

    They can be identified and classified by them.


  2. There usually is little value to these objects.

    I lived on a farm in Shawnee territory,and found scores of arrow heads. I could have picked them up all day for weeks before I would have had a hard time locating more.

    They ,of course, are made of stone and do not degrade,so they are abundant in hunting areas,and battle fields.

    They do however have a small value to collectors ,especially ones who do not live near sites where they can find there own.

    I think it is of more value for you to keep it,considering the "find" is the value you recieve.

  3. You should take it to the nearest college or university and let them have a look at it.  Sounds interesting.

  4. Try the local natural history museum, or the state university's history department, or anthropology department.  Search the school's website, find a couple of professors in those depts, and e-mail them a picture or two of the arrowhead.
