We live in a rural area in Oklahoma, and I've told him that if he gets caught, he could possibly have our vehicle impounded, go to jail, be fined, and our daughter could loose the priviledge to get her license until she is 21 (this is what I've heard, anyway). If anyone knows where I can go for documented proof of what WILL happen, please let me know!

  1. Yah... you'll get into trouble, but an impound isn't part of it.   It is not likely your daughter will lose her licensing privelege either.   I think the main concern should be safety.  I taught my kids to drive when they were about 13, but they never drove on public roads until they were in driver's ed and had learners permits..   They drove the truck through our pastures.

  2. Here is a great article on why she shouldn't drive...

    http://www.ci.barrington.ri.us/TeenDrive...

  3. I wouldn't suggest doing it on the road.  But i was driving a full size Chevy, and pulling trailers on a farm, when i was 9 years old.

  4. The vehicle could be impounded, he will be ticketed for this as well as your daughter and yes she could loose her right to drive until maybe 18 years of age..........................

Just contact your local department of motor vehicles and they will tell you what will happen....................

  5. you can look it up at the DMV or you can look up the law statutes. Also going in the the police department or sherffs departments and asking them isn't a bad idea either.

  6. Quoted from:

    IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE

A Summary of Oklahoma Law on Alcohol, Drugs, and Driving

    ---

"Any person under 18 years of age is considered a juvenile (a minor) by Oklahoma Law.  There is an exception:  a juvenile, regardless of age, who is involved in certain felony offenses or is considered a habitual offender, may be treated and punished as an adult. "

    "Types of Criminal Offenses

Violations are offenses punishable with a fine and are usually prosecuted in city court.  Examples of violations are:

    ·           Being out past curfew

    ·           Minor in possession of alcohol

    ·           Public intoxication

    ·           Truancy

    ·           Serious traffic violations, such as, driving under suspension, driving without a license in possession, or driving without car insurance"

But IMO the big problem is if anything happens, she is not covered by insurance.

Sounds like a really DUMB idea to me!

  7. He should be a responsible husband and not let her drive period. You shouldn't have to have 'proof'. Calls the cops and ask them details about what could happen and have him listen in, (obviously pretend its someone else that is doing the illegal thing). I would also have a big talk with my daughter about doing the right thing and not getting behind the wheel even if 'daddy says its ok'.

  8. I live in Pennsylvania, and Virginia. That can happen. It dpends on the police officer. He might give him a warning. He can give your Daughter fines. For driving without a license or permit. And for your husband he can have SO MANY Fines. Like for example Letting a minor drive, without any legal paperwork. And some other ones.

This happened to me when I didn't have my lisence and I was lucky and the poilce officer let me off with a warning. Tell him not to do that. They could take the car too
