My husband has leave to remain in the uk until 2010, he is stuck in care work with a degree how can he get out

Question

my husband has a degree in health education from nigeria and has passed a nebosh health and safety course in the uk. He is applyin for countless jobs but not getting to interview stage even. He is becoming depressed and feels he will be stuck in care work forever. Has anyone got advice on where to look or guidence on the best options for him. He also has a science degree and experience of teaching abroad but cant seem to get anywhere in this field either. Where can he go for advice on getting a job in health n safety or teaching because he is applying for work and trainee places with no joy. If when it comes to renewing his leave to remain all he has to show is carework I know this will go against him. He is even getting so desperate he wants to apply for health n safety jobs in nigeria to get experience n then return here but I know also if he does this the home office will see that he can live in nigeria so why shouldnt he stay there!! Please anybody have any advice for us????
