I need some info. I am almost okay with him going. But I have a lot of questions, how long is school? Can we go with him? Is it really as dangerous as it sounds? If someone could give me some idea or a website where I could get some more information thanks!

  1. EOD is extremely dangerous. 100% of the Marines that died from our BN were from EOD company. 100%.

EOD is a very important job that needs to get done, but for a husband and father (you said "can WE go," so I assume you have at least one child), I do NOT recommend it. There was nothing sadder than seeing the widow and parents of one of the EOD guys we lost during a memorial service. It was...if you can do it, then more power to you. EOD is something you get into if you're single, and you stay in it after you get married because the Marines are so closely knit there...it really is a brotherhood. But if you are already married and already have a family, I highly discourage it.

  2. Your husband is a marine? I'm sorry.

  3. School is like 6 months I think but you can research it. If iI am not mistaken it is in Panama City,FL (I think maybe combatant divers course there and Navy EOD, maybe eglin AFB , fl) It can be dangerous if isnt confident in his skillsstateside, and very dangerous in Iraq considering he has eve less of a advantage there. Only job more dangerous then EOD where your life is constantly on the line is infantry. So like the other poster said, depends on what his current mos is.

Whatever your husband is not a Marine? I am sorry must suck knowing your man had to settle for less b/c you yanked his manhood away.

    Hannibal the Cannibal

I think your answer is somewhat flawed. 90% of the Marines in my BN that lost their lives were from 0300 mos. We had a Navy Eod team that would support us and none of them lost their lives. So yes dangerous job but the infantry can maintain marriages and the chances of being "hurt" on the job are much greater.  Driving on the road to Vegas from 29 Palms on the backroads  for years was the most dangerous thing I ever did in the Marine Corps. If you are in a transportation unit and the only people who get hit are from the truck companies I guess Motor T would be the most dangerous job there, but not the most dangerous. They all have danger, so dont let that stop him from doing what he really wants to do. We had a young Sergeant who had did 4 years in the wing and wanted to be a grunt so he came over with his family and is doing just fine. Thing is he really wanted to do something different and the family knew and supported him. Hope I didnt get too far off subject.

  4. EOD.  Explosive Ordinance Disposal.  He gets to go play with bombs.  So yeah it is very dangerous.

  5. Unfortunately you wont be able to go with him when he goes to school as the Marine Corps philosophy is that all Marines are there to learn and the best way to do that is to eliminate as many distractions as possible. Not saying that you're a distraction just that you could be without meaning to. Since you didn't say what his current MOS is can't tell you how much more dangerous if at all EOD would be.
