We are going on a cruise to Jamaica and I would assume since he is not a US Citizen he cannot get a passport, but what documentation would he need to travel to jamaica?

Also has anyone used the new passport card for sea travel in lieu of the Passport?

  1. Needs a passport.

Needs to have proof he can enter back into the USA!

  2. passport

  3. He would need a visa in his passport. As he is legal he most probably already has this. If he hasn't renewed his passport in a very long time he will need to do this and then get a new visa put inside it. This should be fairly straightforward and easy to do. Then it should be okay to go on holiday. :-)

  4. Entry Requirements for North American Tourists

United States - Citizens and Permanent Residents

Citizens of the United States, require a valid passport for entry into Jamaica, as this travel document is a requirement of the US for re-entry into that country.

Permanent Residents of the United States visiting Jamaica as tourists for periods not exceeding six (6) months, and who possess return or roundtrip tickets showing that their journey began in the USA, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands do not require passports for entry to Jamaica but will require a valid passport to re-enter the USA under the Western Hemispheric Travel Initiative.

    Cruise Passengers

Cruise Passengers of any nationality who intend to remain in the island during the stay of the vessel by which they arrived and to depart on the same vessel, are not required to hold passports.

I would get a passport from his country of origin.

  5. It is an imperitive this sort of question not be asked.  The reality is.. the ONLY folks who will know the answer will be the Immigration Service and the ONLY folks who can help you avoid trouble would be... the immigration service.

  6. It depends on your husband's country of citizenship as to whether he needs a visa for Jamaica. You can inquire of the Jamaican Embassy in Washington or check their website to see a list of all countries that require a visa for Jamaica. I assume when you say "legal resident" you mean "permanent resident"; thus, if this is the case, your husband can re-enter the United States with his passport and green card.

  7. He needs his passport from his current country of citizenship, his green card and a visa, if needed, he needs to get into Jamaica.
