My husband is a terrible husband when he has no money?

Question

Now before you all start jumping down my throat.. That isn't what I mean. When money is tight my husband gets very withdrawn and depressed. I keep chuggin' along no matter what. But he will actually hide in the bedroom and not even talk to me or the kids. But when he has money he is the sweets, nicest, lets hold hands and go for a walk kind of guy? UGH! This is annoying with the moodswings. Anyone with experience with this? Its just life. Money comes and goes. I never look down on him for it but he mentally beats himself up if we cant afford anything for a month. How can I make it easier on him? I don't know what else to do? I already don't go anywhere. I never ask for anything. I don't work because we have three kids and their school schedules and extra's keep me as the taxi mom. I don't know...what do you do to help your man keep his cool and not withdraw from the family in hard times!?

maybe you need a financial adviser , get something in saving or in investing so when the dollars in the account run short you have a cushion , help ease the stress a bit.

Tell him to knock that d**n whining and sulking c**p off. If he's that d**n obsessed about it, he can get a 2nd job.

It's not you that's for sure. You're taken care of business. I bet when times are really tight, your husband just doesn't want to hear it. huh.  "I have to go to the grocery store and get food for the next 6 days."  Not mad just not glad, it's common.

My husband does the same thing he gets down and out. It used to get to me bad, but now I just try to ignore it, but it is hard. I just let him go through his stages then he comes out of it.

Just explain your feelings to him, if he is any kind of a man, he will understand where you are coming from. Money comes and goes, usually goes faster and easier than it comes, but he needs to get over his feelings of remorse and get over it.

A good s*x session!  I have NEVER worried about money or anything else when having s*x!

And as long as you don't get pregnant s*x is free too!  Great form of entertainment and stress reliever and if done right can even burn a good amount of calories.

Hi, I am in the same exact boat you are taxi mom and all. What I do when my other half gets like this is just keep up the encouragement that things will get better. I know it seems as if we are beating our heads against the wall but they at least know we are there for them and they do (whether they admit it or not) take it all in and love us for it. So I would say just be there if he ever needs to talk or just needs to "hide" in the bedroom.Good Luck.

This is from a guy, and I can relate to his feelings.  Men like to be the providers for their families.  If they get short on money, then they worry that they can't provide for the family.  I know that it seems like they shoudn't worry, but when you have three kids, and you consider yourself the financial provider, then you have a lot of responsibilties there.  

BTW,  I think that you are handling this great.  Yours is really a true love for your husband.  Your love for your husband is why you are asking this question.  That's good to see in this day and time.

sorry to hear your man is like a roller coaster, I am assuming that he may have mental health problems nothin wrong with that but why should you all pay for it, not everyone has money all the time so whats the big deal? It has to do with his short comings not yours, your choice you can give him an altamatum if you want tell him to get help or else or you can stop come plaining and live with..
