My husband is american and still carrys his american passport can he carry an english passport aswell?

I am an english citizen married to an american citizen we both live in the uk together, my husband still carrys his american passport but it needs to be renewed in 2008. I am trying to find out if he can carry an english passport aswell as an american passport coz he doesnt want to give up his american one.

your husband may renew his US passport in the UK at any US embassy , while in the UK ? only British passport ,in the US ,his US passport ,that is the rule of dual citizenship , it stands for traveling as well ,, i know you have heard this ? # while in Rome ? do as the Roman do #

Both British and Americans allow for dual citizenship so having two won't clash with each other. If he gets both he would have to enter the UK on the UK passport (not the American one otherwise he can have fun getting to know the immigration officals). If he stays on the American one make sure he keeps track of where the visa is (he can apply to have it transfered to the new one or keep the old passport with the new one).

If you have been married and lived in the UK for over 3 years your hubby can fall under this scheme.
