How long before he is going to be home. He goes into the Dr. on Tuesday, August 5th, to get his medical discharge, what is the process from there. How long does it take? When can I expect him home again? If anyone could help me with any of these questions that would be wonderful. I just need to know when he is coming home!!!

  1. Well first he has to go through some physicals, depending on what's wrong with him....second he'll be moved to a Medical Platoon to see if he can heal(yes they do that to everyone, even if they were missing an eye). Then if he's unfit to continue service they'll start the paperwork for an Administration Separation( it's a discharge thats like he has never been in the Corps), pretty much they shred all paperwork..all this process can and does take anywhere from 30 to 60 days depending on his attitude and how many recruits are in Medical Platoon....Hope this helps....good luck and God Bless!

  2. It's hard to say, it could be a matter of days, there's just a little bureacracy he will have to go through so it's not something anyone will be able to give an exact answer for, most likely.

  3. Not long at all.   He actually is not getting a medical discharge as he has not been in long enough to warrant one.   He is getting released due to being physically unfit for duty.  Once it is confirmed and approved,  which will not take long as they have to do this all the time at Basic,  he will be home within a week.

However, they are going to ask some hard questions as to why the problem was not picked up during his enlistment physical.  Hopefully no one LIED about a disqualifying medical condition as that could lead to some serious criminal charges.   If it turns out HE lied,  they may keep him longer so they can prosecute him under the UCMJ instead of a civilian court.

  4. It could be days or it could be a couple of months.  It all depends on what the reason (even if it is medical) that he is being discharged for.  Sounds like he doesn't really know what he is talking about.  A doctor doesn't give a medical discharge.  The doctor fills out the paperwork/documentation and forwards it to a board who must review it.  There are some streamlined processes for new entires since from a legal standpoint he will not be treated as a veteran (you have to serve 180 days before you receive credit for enlisting).

  5. Within 30-60 days. I know thats a long range but really you didnt give us alot of information. What happened. What type of medical discharge? It all depends...Good luck
