My husband is doing his AIT at Fort Sam Houston in Texas, is he allowed to spend the night off post?

We were thinking about staying over there near his post so we can see him. But is that a good idea because I am not sure if he could even get off post. He says he can on weekends but not sure. Do you know how it is? His job is 68j10

After 8 weeks he can.

depends on his Chain of command and how he is doing.  he may get weekends free..or he may have to spend them on base becuase he  (or somebody in his unit) screwed up.  

at minimum expect the first 30 days he will NOT be permitted off base overnight at any time.
