  1. This will depend on whether he chooses the Army or AF, because each basic training is a different length of time. Also which MOS (job) he chooses, because every job has a different length of time for training. My Hubby's AIT was 6 months while others are only a few weeks. So the details really matter.

  2. Air Force basic training goes to 8 weeks like the Army starting 1 November. For both you should be able to VISIT him at graduation from basic and at tech training. For both services you guys most likely won't be able to move with him full time until his first permanent duty station. But don't forget to think long term. Over the long haul if he goes Army you will see a lot less of him. Army deployments are 15 months compared to 4-6 months with the Air Force

  3. Basic Training is 8 weeks long, then he has to go to training for whatever job he is being placed for, different jobs have different training periods, anywhere from 6weeks to 8 months!  I myself favor the Air Force its a little more like a 9-5 job, home more, not out in the field practicin war for 2 weeks at a time, like the army.  You may have to wait anywhere from 4 months to a year.  He should be able to ask a recruiter about how long basic training is, and how long his job training is. You can move to where his job training is, and then when he gets a base assigned to him, you would go there also.

  4. you will have to wait until he gets out of basic training and AIT or tech school.  that all depends on what job he chooses because they vary.  Once he gets out of training he will get orders to his unit and it should have your name on them.

  5. About a month or more after he gets to his first Duty Station unless it's a place that doesn't allow spouses...

Basic, then AIT (unless in OSUT), then to his first unit...

  6. until after his initial training and schooling is completed..assuming that he gets accompanied orders to his first duty station.  if he ends up in Korea, chances are you will be spending another 12-24 months apart.
