My husband is in jail for 3 MC's (only 20 years old) which means 2 counts of violating conditions and a fourth degree assault charge we are fighting....long story short, we were there when the assault took place...a guy was beating up on of his friends and he hit the guy to get him off of his friend and his two friends continued to beat the guy up and we left. well his friend is saying that he stayed and beat the guy up to...long and complicated i know....but anyways...his grandmother is dying. she is having a surgery sometime in the next week and the doctor said that he personally thinks that she won't make it through the surgery...we've been trying to get ahold of his public defender all day....but we were wondering if exceptions are ever made for family emergencies like this? Even if it was only a day or two. His bail is $1500 which is just impossible for us to come up with...what do you think, will they let him out for a few day??

  1. Hello Jess. Since your husband is currently being held, you should contact the Sheriff's Department ( jail) that is holding him. In Ohio, depending on priors and what charges a person is being held on, death bed visits are allowed. The Sheriff's Department can tell you if he would qualify. I also want to add that they will charge you a nominal fee ( again, here in Ohio, depending on the distance being driven, it averages out to around $35) for mileage on the vehicle.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

  2. Is he sentenced already? As I see he has bail If he has bail he still needs to go to court

Have the lawyer take it before the judge and ask for a bail reduction

other than that Sorry I do not see it happening

Mix up or no mix up that is what happens when we travel with the wrong folks. Sorry Not judging just sharing experiences.

I missed my Dad's and my Gran's funerals.

Jails do not care well unless you go money like that than you may get some play But you are already saying you are using a PD and do not have bail so sorry it is really not ;likely to happen

  3. In nv. My father died while I was in jail and the courts wouldn't even let me out for the furneral.

  4. I don't think a judge will let him out for a day...

  5. Well I can tell you that from experience from a friend of my family, this friend got married and his sister (friends wife at the time) they allowed her brother out of jail for a couple of hours while his sister got married.. but he had a cop with him all of the time, and I am not sure that he went to wedding reception or not..But to allow him to get of jail for a day or so, I don't see that happeneing sorry..

maybe your boyfriend should learn to walk away from trouble and he wouldn't end up in the slammer...

  6. Unfortunately, this will not happen.
