He was given some antibiotics for the staff infection but it got worse. I researched the infection on the net, and i read that if the infection is MRSA it will not be treated by common antibiotics and will worsen and potentially become fatal. Because the jail already issued medication they feel that they took care of the problem and will not see him in the medical department again. After researching the infection i found that staff can be a serious diseas and will become fatal if not treated properly. How do i get my husband the medical attention he needs?

  1. talk to your lawyer

  2. I am a CCMA

Get him a good lawyer NOW and they will get him the medical attention he needs..

  3. How do you know it's getting worse by the day -- do you visit him daily?  Can't he speak for himself and ask to see the doctor, or his lawyer if it's that bad?

  4. They say the sqeaky wheel get's the grease. Be persistent in contacting the prison management, city/county management and if that does not work the local new station could do a story on how the system is broke. Hopefully it does not come to that. Pray and hope his caretakers have some common sense and get him back in.

  5. Keep pushing for him to see the doctor because it's dangerous if left untreated. They will eventually get tired of you asking and see him again. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

  6. threaten to sue the state for either neglect or the prison doctor for malpractice, and its "staph" as in staphylococcus

  7. If he is in a local jail he can go to a local doctor that has a contract with that jail. You will probably have to call the jail to find out. If he is in prison usually there is medical staff on site. He needs it to be cultured to see if it grows MRSA and get on some sort of medication if it is staph.

  8. make sure he gets proper treatment and get your self a lawyer now and sue there butts!

  9. There are different kinds of staph infections.  I'm sure the medics who looked at him are able to identify which strain it is and medicate properly.  If they don't it would be passed on to others and they'd have a big problem on their hands.

  10. MRSA infection is not always fatal, it depends on where it is, if it is on his skin then it will probably clear up with treatment, when it becomes systemic and invades the blood is when it becomes serious. I worked in the medical dept of a women's correctional facility and MRSA can be brought on from many different sources, some as simple as a cut or insect bite, there are medications available to treat it that they have access to. In a normally otherwise healthy individual MRSA is not that serious, it causes the most problems for people with compromised immune systems, infants and the elderly. If he does not improve with the prescribed treatment I am sure they will take the next course of action necessary.

Often times people will feel worse in the beginning of the treatment because the drugs are so strong

  11. Uh... a staph infection can be very serious - deadly even. In fact, there were several staph related deaths about this time last year in schools and other public place because the illness is very easily passed. If I were you I would start with an attorney. However, I would probably approach this from several different angles. I would personally go to speak with the warden/supervisor of the facility, and even there boss. I would also speak with the state Department of Corrections, or even or personal family doctor to see if he could speak to someone on his behalf.

    Good Luck!

  12. Contact your state department of corrections.

Sorry but I really don't have too much sympathy for persons instituted in the penal system.
