  1. no.  that's up to you.

  2. No.  If you choose to go back to your folks while he is deployed, the entire cost will be on you.  Additionally, if you are in base housing, you will have to notify them and probably surrendar the unit, paying to store all your personal items and furniture until you come back.  At that point, you would most likely be put back on the housing list and do the wait all over again.  Even if you live off base, you may have to continue to pay rent on your place in order to keep it until your spouse returns or, if your landlord would agree, terminate the lease early and find a new place later on, again paying to store your things.  Keep in mind however that choosing to move because of a deployment does not fall under the military clause in most leases, so you would then have to follow the lease's provisions on early termination. Read your lease over to see what that could mean.  Once he comes back, you all would have to pay to get you back and all the costs of getting another place out of your pocket as well.

  3. I was in the Army, and buddies of mine that were married told me before they deployed, the Army did help their spouses move back home. I don't know how much money they got, but they did get the money that soldiers are paid while overseas. Tell your husband good luck and thank you. I'm thinking of rejoing the Army myself.

  4. They may give you a loan if you check with them, but it's really up to you to get back.

  5. A friend of mine was lucky enough that they added her moving home in his orders to Korea, and since it was in the orders...the Army handled the move.  I on the other hand, wasn't that lucky when my hubby went to Korea.  As far as a deployment, nope. I've never heard of anyone getting help moving away from post for a deployment.

  6. The Air Force and Navy make you pay yourself but it varies with each command. But, a plane ticket back shouldn't be too expensive. Considering your husband is Military he should be able to afford it.

Great move on your part, I will be sending my wife back home when I am deployed also. Much safer, and she will be around her family.

  7. No as it is not a move that is authorized on orders by the military.  You must pay for it all on your own.  You will keep the BAH but it still is based on where you are supposed to be.  If you live in housing you may not get housing when you come back.

The only time they will help is if you are living OCONUS and file for a ERD - Early Return of Dependents.  With this you loose command sponsorship so you can't go back to the location.  He looses COLA for you as well.

  8. As in an EROD? Early Return of Dependents? Yes. However there are quite a few catches so research it carefully and make sure it is what is best for you. You will have to give up housing and command sponsorship and can not get them back when he returns. We did one for this deployment but knew we would be PCSing right away when he returns so the loss of command sponsorship was no biggy. It would probably be better off to just go home for a visit or two. Take it from someone who has been there done that.. I wish I had stayed back for this deployment, living in civi land made it much harder.
