  1. Not just Infantry, but most Soldiers wives are often left tending to their children and other matters. If not deployed we go to the field to train. Some units more than others. Yes the deployments can be close together but usually never less than 12 months apart. Your first duty station you can be there from 18 months to 3 years. If he gets to a lifecycle unit then 3 yr is the norm and can extend to stay longer. Once he gets up in rank it will be easier to goto a post you like or reenlist for it. As 11B you can go to alot of diff posts. Good Luck

  2. Military Wives are more or less, Single Parents. And like another girl said, It isnt for everyone. Its very trying, lonley, annoying, and at times crippling lol. BUT! Even though you have to deal with all the bullcrap, its well worth it if youre a strong enough person.

I wouldnt trade my military life for anything.

  3. I'm an Army wife of an infantry soldier in the 82nd airborne division. We have been married 12 years and have 3 children.

Life is what you make of it. I couldn't imagine not having the Army as a part of our lives. Its really all we've ever known.

Most of the time, my husband is deployed, or training, or getting ready to deploy. However, he does have occasional down time where he works a normal duty day (5am-6pm). As a private, your husband's normal duty day hours will be shorter.

You will probably end up stationed here at Bragg (NC), at Fort Richardson, AK or in Vincenza, Italy.

  4. Hello.

my husband has been with the 82nd Airborne Unit for 3 years in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.- and is an Infantryman.

he came home from his second tour in iraq back in April. and we are preggo with our first child. we are now being sent to Ft. Benning, GA with the Rangers.

while he was with the 82nd he was constantly gone- out of the 3 years he was in iraq for over 2 of them.

Army life isnt for everyone--its very demanding and lonely, but its also very rewarding and makes you truly proud of what he does.

the benefits are extremely nice- the extra pay for being married and having kids- the free medical and dental. its all great...the only downfall is deployments. but its a risk you take with joining the army.

you will most likely be stationed in NC or Italy. (im betting NC) since thats the largest Airborne Unit.

  5. He'll more than likely be stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC with the 82nd ABN DIV. LIfe is good there however the 82nd remains very busy. I was there for 3 yrs and spent a total of 12 months deployed. No big deal really. Good luck.

  6. Jumper, Ft Bragg NC, Airmobile, Ft Campbell KY.  Plan to deal with the kids alone a lot.
