i live in houston ,texas i've asked my ex for a copy of the supposed divorce he says he got in atlanta ,georgia. he always comes up with excuses like he can't find the divorce decree or he's lost it which by the way i was never served or contacted about a divorce. this leaves me to believe he's lying about the divorce, but he has married his new wife in the same state that we were married in but there's no divorce on file in the state of texas. any info would be greatly appreciated

  1. If you have never been served with any papers you are not divorced.

I would suggest you go to the police and report this as he is a bigamist

and it is against federal law.

  2. he never  divorced you .. you can write to, call or go to the court house in atlanta GA and  get a copy of it ..however i doubt it will be there .

has he known where you have been all the time ..( your place of residence )  if so then i would  call the local police department and tell them what he has done .that would be right after i filed for a divorce from  his cheating azz..

  3. Call the courts in Atlanta Georgia and explain your situation then ask if you could receive a copy of the decree . They will tell you if one is on file or not .

Honestly though it sounds as if he full of more c**p than a Christmas turkey .

If there was a divorce you would have received the paper work .

If there is no decree on file contact an attorney and have him charged with bigamy . It is a criminal offense and is punishable by fines and or prison .

His second marriage is and will be automatically voided .

The only way for him to get around this is if there was no contact between the two of you for a period of I believe 7 years , ( some states is 5 years ) . In that case one of you would be presumed dead .

Which this does not sound like the case here .

    Call an attorney immediately .

    Good luck .

  4. If you have not been served divorce papers then you are technically still married. As with all crimes, you need to contact your local law enforcement agency and fill out a crime report. Once you make a crime report to the appropriate law enforcement agency, they will bring it to the prosecutorial agency which has jurisdiction.

  5. Are you safe?  This guy sounds really scary.  Call an attorney tomorrow and proceed.

  6. Simply get a lawyer and sue him for divorce. He has committed Adultery and it is still a crime.
