I dont think you would need to if he is classified as a Dependant...

By adopted you mean "legally" right? If it is legal then you should be able to get a legitimate birth certificate for the child (listing you and your husband as the parents) and as a result the child may not need a visa (would be a good idea to file for an American Born Abroad so that the child has citizenship though).
