My husband just got a tattoo.?

I'm worried. His blood type is the same with my daughter. So I'm wondering, How long before he could start donating blood?

I really don't understand your question. Does your daughter need a blood transfusion? If so, don't be alarmed, the hospital could easily get blood from the blood banks in your daughters blood type. That's what they are there for.

I am reading this over and over.  You think only your husband can give blood to your daughter and you are afraid she will need blood before he can give it?

If there is a hospital nearby I am sure they have some blood of your daughters type, or she could always get O+ (universal donor, and most common of all types) if needed. I don't think your husband's tattoo has endangered your daughter.

But congratulations!  You must have a very happy and stress free life to worry about something like this.  Enjoy it, stop worrying.

Probably around 6 - 12 months that's probably enough time to show if he got anything from the needles. Why does he need to donate blood anyway does your daughter need it? I'm sure he's not the only person in the world that has the same blood type as you daughter.

I have never heard of that rule. You should call your local tattoo shop or even the Red Cross and ask them directly what the rule is.

There is a waiting period. I dont know what the exact time though is... I wanna say a few months though... like maybe 6 to a year. it's quite a while.

Do you need him to donate blood? I'm pretty sure he can donate it right now if he needed to, a tattoo wont effect that

I got my tattoo done last year around March. It starts at my elbow and takes up my whole bicep, then ends at the top of my shoulder. They told me to wait a year. I went to see my doctor in June and he said I'm eligible to give blood.

Last time I checked was 2 years before he can give blood.
