Question:

My husband recieved a judgement on a car he had in 01, he was not contacted until 3/08, is he liable?

the paperwork shows it was filed in 11/07 but he was not served until 3/08. he also responded to the court and we did not hear anything until a judgement to be garnished was issued.

  1. All states are different, but in the two I've lived in, there is a ten year span where they can render judgement on a vehicle or liability.  There should also be a statute of limitations on the judgement, but I think it's at least a year.  Check into the laws of your state, but it looks like he has no choice but to pay up.  A garnishment is not something you can stop...without changing jobs, of course, and then, it's just a matter of time before they find him again.

  2. Depends on what State you live in and how long the statute of limitations is.

    I have posted a link in the source box so you can look up your State. If the S.O.L. has passed go back to court and dispute the judgment, if not your stuck.

    and if they do then bad karma and youll end up seeing them shut down or youll gat a large amount of cash in the end of their careers.
