My husband decided to use our brand new Viking stove's griddle and scorched the living day lights out of it. It's now a burnt brown color. What can I do to clean this? Thanks for any help.

  1. The following is going to sound weird but I swear it works. Boil some

coca cola. Then soak the griddle in it as its soaking start scrubing and all the burnt residue will rub off pretty easily. I heard about this & tried it, It worked great.

  2. Is it an oven or a range?  If it's a standalone griddle used in the oven or on a cooktop, you can try BarKeeper's Friend and a non-scratch sponge to remove the stains.  Works really well.  If it's a range and the griddle is part of it, it's a bit more involved.

I had a Viking range for years before my recent renovation and I recall a process they suggested before the first use involving soapy water and vinegar.  Then, season it (and keep it seasoned) like a cast iron pan.

Becasue of that, you don't have to clean it after every use, but you can't use sopy water or a baking soda solution since it's difficult to rinse.  Try warming the griddle a little and pouring soda water it.  Wiping with a barely damp cloth.  Reseaon the griddle after that just in case.

Cooking spray and corn oil burns on those griddles, so, hopefully, that's not your issue here.  If it is, viking probably sells a griddle cleaner.  Call the store you bought it from and they'll get it!

Good luck!!  It should last you years!!
