My hubby and i have a son together and he wants to adopt my 2 girls. My ex has seen them each maybe 2 times and we dont even know were he is, so how do we go about about the adoption process? We are in Cheyenne, Wyoming. My daughters are now 3 and 4 years old.

  1. Well this is how it goes...... First you need to gp through the correct channels that way no one can say that you were wrong, and you'll have papers to back you up. First of all you need to see a social worker. They will go through the proper way to do this things. I say if you have a man who actually wants to take care of a child then more power to him. And more than that I bet your kids call him dad. So I don't think anyone should have anything negative to say about this. Anyone can be a father it takes someone special to be a daddy and that is what your husband is. See that social worker and good luck.

  2. You are going to want some expert advice on this.

call the Wyoming Children's Society 800-584-9384

    or

    Catholic Charities of Wyoming 800-788-4604

Both these organizations deal with Wyoming adoptions.

  3. You could file for adoption and claim abandonment. However, judges aren't stupid. If you never went to court to get child support, the judge can assume that you never told the guy he was a father.  Most will require that you search for the father to get him to sign off on the adoption (a good investigator can find almost anyone in 24 hours; most in as little as 2 hours). Best to get him to sign off anyway, since he could later have it overturned.

  4. You would have to go through the proper process of trying to contact him.  If you can't contact him then you have to put a notice in the local paper of the city of his last known address for 4 weeks in a row etc. etc.  Each state has different laws to abide by.  I would go down to your county court house and when you pick up all the paperwork you need to start the process, they can tell you everything you need to do.

  5. you have to file to terminate his rights. He must sign it , or if you cant contact him, you must be able to prove that you have tried. (running ads in papers, etc.)

  6. He would have to either give up his rights OR you could go to the courts and say that there bio dad has not seen, made a atempt to see or suported them in any way. You may need proof. Such as unpaid child suport. The courts MIGHT take away his rights which would open up your hubby to adopt them.

  7. You find the natural father to give permission for his kids to be adopted by another man.

Anyone can be found, if you look.
