My husbands suspended drivers license- what to do now?

his was suspended in maryland, then he moved to tennessee. it was suspended until last october. what does he need to do now to get it back in tennessee? he needs to rent a car in early december.

  1. He deserves the license being suspended.  It is his fault.  


  2. You need to ask this of the DMV of the state you are residing in. Be aware that he may not meet the criteria of the rental agency by having a prior license suspension.

Well, actually, he can't get a Maryland licence again, because he doesn't lived there.  If the suspension ended last October, why didn't he take care of it then?  What he has to do is get written confirmation from Maryland that he had a valid licence, it was suspended for whatever reason,and the suspension is now lifted.

    That confirmation along with id and proof of residence, will allow him to apply for a Tennessee licence.

    Confirmation can be sent from MVA directly to the Tennessee DOS, but he may have to allow a few days for that to happen.  He should start by calling Maryland now.

  4. He will have to do whatever the court ordered him to do in Maryland to get that license out of suspension, and then turn it in to Tennessee to get his new license.
