I let it charge overnight (I saw the "charging" message and everything) but when I unplugged it from the wall, it stayed on for three seconds and turned off. I couldn't turn it back on.

  2. Hello keith n!,

I think you need to RESET your iPod:

    How to reset your iPod:

1.Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.) for a couple of times like 5 times

2.Press and hold the Play/Pause and Menu buttons together until the Apple/iPod logo appears, about 20 seconds.
