The first suggestion isn't having an effect. The iPod is 2 years old - when the battery dies -- it's totally dead?? you can't replace it?

  1. I would plug it in and press the menu and play button at the same time.  This will reset it.

  2. It depends on how old it is, the batteries don'tt last forever which means youll have to buy a new one eventually. so my guess is the nano is ******

  3. It may be frozen =[ I hate it when that happens. Is the screen stuck on menu or on a song or something? Is it still on but it won't do anything? Because if it is, and it's not responding to being plugged in, take it out of the plug (because otherwise it may freeze your computer/itunes also), and then leave it alone for awhile until the screen goes black (this means it's  battery is completely out of energy), then take the ipod and plug it in to charge again. Then it should work.

Otherwise, maybe you just need a new one now? How long have you had it? Ipod isn't very good if you ask me, it seems to have a lot of people, most people I've talked to haven't been really happy with them.

    Hope this helps.

p.s. if it's not already on menu, try to put it on menu, and then let the battery run out and recharge it after.
