My iPod touch won't connect to my computer?

I have the latest update for iTunes but my iPod touch won't connect to my computer,someone please help

Sometimes if your iPod touch is running an App, downloading/installing something from the App Store, or iTunes Store, sometimes your iPod will not come up.  When these things are finished or closed, check that the cable is plugged in tightly.  If all this doesn't work, turn off and on your iPod, and if that doesn't work, hold the sleep/wake button and home button at the same time until it turns off, and keep holding until the "Connect to iTunes" sign comes up.
