My iPod won't update. It won't do anything.

Question

So my iPod has always worked fine up until today. I plugged it in to update it and nothing has happened. The screen says do not disconnect and has said that for hours. iTunes does not show any sign of it updating my iPod. The page does not come up for my iPod and nothing is happening. i dont know what to do!! And i can't click anything like sync iPod or update iPod because iTunes doesnt seem to know it's plugged in. PLEASE HELP

just reset it press menu and the center buttons at the same time until the apple appears.  Make sure your ipod is not connected to the computer when you do this

slap it around you need to show its whos boss.

haha jk unplug your pod and reset it by pressing down the center and menu buttons until it resarts,

annnd restart your computer

then try it again...
