I've ask friends and they tell me that it is clogged. If this is true, how do I unclog or do I need a repairman? Also, there is a filter installed, is it possible the filter needs changing?

  1. The temp in the freezer is important if too warm the thermostat on the I/M will not start the I/M. You can not peek at the I/M because you warm up the box every time you open the door. Take the cover of the front of the I/M and look at the gears to see if any are broken. IF you have a whirlpool I/M behind the cover there are a bunch of holes you need a jumper wire insulated 6 inches long and stripped about 2 inches on each side T and H are the two holes to start the I/M. be careful you are playing with power. Also with the whirl pool I/M the big gear that says do not rotate by hand on the back side are points that burn up smell the big gear and if it smells burnt replace the I/M.

  2. Make sure the switch arm is in the on position. It will not dump the ice if in the off position. If on, it could also be access of ice build up toward the rear (where water comes in the tray). If this is the case, try thawing it with a hair dryer.
