My indian passport will expire in 9 mths I am in US on h1B visa. How do I renw it in SF consulate. I have ECR?

I have ECR in my old passport and my indian residence address has changed .

start the procedures now, since it can take time to renew your passport, so add your new address with electricity bills or any sort of residence proof,

go to the embassy site to find the nearest consulate, in your state,

your old passport will be send back to you with any visa included, and you will keep both passports together.
