My inground pool isn't circulating properly. The filter is fine and I get about 35psi yet no return flow.

Question

I can't get my pool to circulate properly. I removed the filter and primed the system, but it still wont circulate. 35psi at the filter. No flow from the return jets. What can I do?

If your pressure is at thirty five with and without your element inside, I would check for a clogged line. Clogs can be removed with pressure, or like a plumbers snake. I would replace that shaft seal on the motor as soon as possible. It isnt helping your problem at all and can lead to even more problems(like a new motor, and air collecting in the filter)

The filter isn't fine if you have no return flow. Replace the medium.

if you have a de filter turn off system bleed off pressure and tear filter apart inside you will see eight grids it is a bit of a struggle but lift them out and hose them down real good then put filter back together next re charge with eight (8) one pound coffee cans of de power in nearest skimmer to filter leave skimmer basket in place one can of de power at a time that is why pressure is so high do this every six months or you could damage your grids. these grids run any where between 15.00 to 36.oo dollars apeice so they can get quite expensive fast. after you do this you should have flo thru your jets email any more questions to [e-mail] pool company owner

Is your pool losing water fast, and having no flow from the return means there is a major leak somewhere.

Do you have one of the multi position valves on top of the filter.  If so the problem is probably inside.  There is a gasket inside that will deteriorate over time and a peice of it may have cloged one of the ports.

Also, make sure (if you have a valve like that) that it is in the correct position.

The seal will not cause this problem but needs to be repaired as over time it will get into the electric motor and cause the bearing to go out.
