My insurance incorrectly processed a claim and now the hospital wants more money...who is responsible to pay?

My son was born in May 2007. I paid my part of the medical claim in Jan. '08. The claim was reprocessed in July '08 and now my insurance says I owe the hospital an additional $400 even though insurance admits it was them who processed it incorrectly the first time. Do I have any recourse here with either the hospital or my insurance?

  1. go back to the insurance company - if they admitted they did it wrong - they should correct it - go thru your HR office/benefits person if necessary

  2. No, it sounds like you underpaid your share.  You have to pay your share.  Sorry.

  3. Sounds to me like it really screwed you in this deal. Maybe you could get good luck here.http://insurance.free-onlinetip.info/ins...

  4. The hospital does not have any deal with the insurance company.  You are responsible for the bill.

That being said, the insurance will eventually pay, you just have to keep following through with them.
