  1. depends on the state you live in, but most states require a 30 grace period. but i would not drive until i paid it.

  2. you should call the insurance company.

  3. It depends on how long it's been cancelled. Sometimes they will only require a payment to get the policy reinstated. But if it's been cancelled for over a month... they will require a new application to get the policy going again.

Just call them up and see what needs to be done.

Also while you are on the phone with them... ask them what kind of payment plans they offer. They'll work with you to find one that suits your needs.

  4. this would be the time to do it.

if you don't get reinstated, you'll have to buy a new policy.  it'll cost more than the old one because a cancellation counts against you.

  5. You may if you haven't been late before.  Call them

  6. Generally most all insurance carriers provide you a reinstatement period. Usually anywhere from 7 to 30 days, some carriers could even be more. You will need to speak with your agent/producer, or the carrier directly. If you are still within the period that your specific carrier permits, than you will need to pay your payment with a "Reinstatement Fee" included on top of the balance. Very few carriers, do not have a fee. But, in most cases you will see that.

If you are able to reinstate, and your payment has posted. Your coverage will begin after midnight of the date posted. In addition to the chargeable fee, some carriers will require you to sign a "No Loss Statement." Meaning that you are stating under penalty of perjury, that you were not involved in any losses during the period you were un-insured.

I hope this helps you out. Good luck, and speak to your representative A.S.A.P., time may be runnning out.
