  1. Dont just leave it at the first refusal. Write to them again to appeal......keep a note of all of your correspondence, and if  have no joy, take it to the Insurance Ombudsman ( Google this!) Who will look into it for you.

  2. Unless you took out travel insurance with the train company then I'm afraid you don't have anything to claim against.

  3. Do you have homeowners insurance?  Is that the company you have submitted a claim to?  If so, and they refused to pay file a bad faith claim in your home state.  Let the insurance commissioner deal with them.

  4. how do you know it was stolen, if is was lost the train company may be liable, if stolen unless you have that specifically listed in your insurance policy, it is your loss.

    Sorry!

  5. Hard lesson. Never travel without a bag that attaches somehow to your person. This way it cannot be left anywhere and if someone tries to snatch it from you they can't tug it away. Being a male I place my wallet in my sock under my pantleg to avoid being pickpocketed. I keep a handful of cash in my front pocket for spending.

  6. Name the insurance company, I  will know not to use them Their mighty quick to take the money from us, but not in any hurry to pay out, on a legitimate claim..
