My internet connection goes out randomly?

Hello,

My internet disconnects randomly at times and it seems to go out for about 2 - 10 minutes. My ISP is AT&T and I have a modem which displays a ready light. When it's blinking it means that my internet connection is not working but when these disconnections occur my ready light is not blinking.

I have a router connected to the modem, by the way. It's a D-link model that is old and discontinued but it works. I don't think that's the problem.

Help please, it's really aggravating!
